What is your favorite food?
I like all kinds of foods. My parents were pickier eaters than I am. I’ll try just about anything. I think the first moment I diverged from my parents food preferences was when I tasted a mushroom and liked it.
But, my favorite food, hmm. Probably anything cooked from scratch. See my song “From Scratch” from Pop Fly to learn about my Grandma who helped inspire my cooking.
If you could be any animal, what would you be?
Well, my favorite animal is a dog and specifically a french breed of sheep dog called the Briard. Look it up online, it will make you laugh. I think the life of a dog wouldn’t be too bad. Taking care of your owner, sleeping all day, playing in the park, and doing tricks for treats.
What is your best memory from school?
My 5th Grade teacher, Ms. Roberson, encouraged us to do creative writing and took us to meet many real life authors. It was definitely the beginning of my fascination with words and making up stories. We even self-published a book that year with all the best stories. It was inspiring.
What was your favorite thing to do at recess when you were a kid?
I loved the Jungle Gym, which looked a lot like the one pictured on my 2010 Grammy nominated album minus the crazy vines. It was simply a geometric metal structure that was probably entirely dangerous but a whole lot of fun. I remember one kid broke his arm on that structure. Those memories helped me write the song “sign my cast.”
