If you've been following along with us during our Camp Hooglafair summer podcast series, you heard Robyn the Bird and I talk about some of our memories from camp on the most recent episode! I talked about my favorite camp activity-spelunking, which means exploring caves. I told you guys I would show you some pictures of stalagmites and stalactites so you could get a better idea of what they are, so here you go!

In most caves, water mixes with minerals and drips down from the ceiling. Over time this creates structures called stalagmites and stalactites!

Stalactites hang down from the ceiling and stalagmites form on the ground! Don't they look so cool?
