- Mr. Josh

What is your favorite childhood toy?

Warren: As a kid I loved my Star Wars figures. I would stage huge scenes from the movies making sets out of cardboard boxes. Darth Vader and Boba Fett are my all time favourites. In fact, I still have all of my figures tucked away in my basement.

Adam: When I was about 4, my grandfather gave me a harmonica. It was my first musical instrument and I loved it. I took it everywhere. My grandfather played too and I loved hanging out and learning the songs he grew up with.

We’ve seen so many cool Big Block SingSong episodes on Disney Jr.! What does the process of creating episodes look like?

Warren: The process usually starts with Adam and I coming up with ideas for characters, themes, musical styles and lyrics. Once we have a good list we head into the studio. Adam works on the music and I come up with some artwork. When we have a solid direction for an episode, Adam runs with the idea and comes up with a full tune. I then take the song and animate the characters singing and the rest of the episode.

Adam: It’s quite rare for a composer and an animator to work this closely from beginning to end on a show. It makes for a completely collaborative process. We really like working this way.

Do you have a favorite Big Block SingSong episode?

Warren: It's hard to choose just one episode. They're all so different and fun in their own way. If I had to choose it would be "Monkey" because it was our first episode and the "Two Banana Day" chorus is still stuck in my head years after animating it.

Adam: I have a soft spot for a lot of episodes but if I were to choose one, I’d have to say “Here We Go” is my favourite. It has the message that anything is possible and we never need to limit our dreams.

We played your song ‘Eat’ on our recent podcast episode. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Warren: Simple. Pepperoni pizza. My son and I share the same culinary tastes.

Adam: Blueberry pie. Made by my mom. Hands down, it’s my favourite food. It wouldn’t be a healthy lifestyle if I lived off of pie but hey, I’m being honest.
